Questions about Minecraft

How much RAM should I allocate to Minecraft?+
For vanilla, 4 GB is usually enough. With a heavy modpack or shaders, the useful range sits between 6 and 8 GB. The most common mistake is allocating the maximum available thinking it helps: the bigger the heap, the longer the pause when the JVM has to clear it, so the stutter you feel gets worse instead of better. The right value depends on the modpack, the version and how much memory is left for Windows.
Why does my Minecraft keep stuttering every few seconds?+
When the stutter has a rhythm, it is almost always a JVM garbage collector pause. When it only shows up while exploring new areas, it is usually shader compilation or chunk loading. When it is random with no pattern, the cause is normally outside the game: a driver interrupt, a background process or disk contention. Working out which of the three is your case is the first step of the session.
Do shaders kill FPS? Can I use them without stutter?+
Shaders are genuinely heavy, and no configuration makes a heavy shader run for free. What is usually fixable is the hitch when loading new terrain, which comes from compilation happening mid-game, and the drop caused by an outdated driver or the game running on integrated graphics. After that, what is left is picking a shader your machine can hold.
Do Java and Bedrock need the same optimization?+
No. Java runs on the JVM, so memory allocation and garbage collector behaviour are the heart of the problem. Bedrock is native and has no such layer, so the focus shifts to drivers, power plan and graphics configuration. During the session we adjust for the version you actually play.
Is the lag from my PC or from the server?+
You can separate the two without guessing. If the FPS on screen stays high while blocks and other players lag behind, the problem is the connection or the server. If the FPS number itself drops along with the stutter, the problem is your machine. We run that measurement with you during the session, because optimizing a PC does not fix a crowded server.
