The gain depends on the state of the machine: a freshly reinstalled PC has less to correct than one with three years of use. That is why none of these lines carries a number — the real number is whatever the before-and-after measurement shows on your machine.

When optimization usually pays off

What people ask beforehand
- What is PC optimization for gaming?
- It is a review of the software layer between your hardware and the game: Windows configuration, drivers, power plan, background processes, CPU scheduling and the game settings themselves. It does not replace hardware and it is not an app you install — it is configuration work, done piece by piece across the system.
- How much FPS will I gain?
- There is no way to say before looking at the machine, and anyone quoting a fixed number before connecting is guessing. The gain depends on what is limiting your PC: a system loaded with background processes and the wrong power plan has a lot to correct; a freshly reinstalled one has little. That is why measurement happens before and after, on your machine, and you see both numbers.
- Does PC optimization actually work, or is it a scam?
- The practice works when the bottleneck is configuration — which is the most common case behind unstable FPS, mid-match stutter and performance dropping after half an hour of play. What does not work is promising a result without looking at the machine, or selling it as a hardware replacement. If your limit is the graphics card, no tweak fixes that.
- Do I need to reinstall Windows first?
- No. The review is done on the system as it is. Reinstalling solves a different class of problem — corrupted system, infection, badly damaged install — and is a separate decision we will flag during the session if it applies.
- Does any software stay installed afterwards?
- No. Remote access is used during the session, with you watching the screen, and ends with it. The adjustments stay in the system; no monitoring software keeps running.
- Can I do it myself?
- You can, and a good part of the adjustments is documented in the blog guides. The difference is time and diagnosis: knowing which layer is costing you performance in your specific case is what separates changing everything from changing what matters.
